Extending Compassion to Yourself & Others
"It is a lack of love for ourselves that inhibits our compassion toward others. If we make friends with ourselves, then there is no obstacle to opening our hearts and minds to others." (Unknown)

"With compassion one becomes courageous. Compassion brings triumph when attacked; it brings security when maintained." (Tao Te Ching)
Compassion for ourselves translates to compassion for others. If we don’t have compassion for ourselves first, how can we give it honestly to others? The old adage is true, if you can’t love yourself first, how can you truly love anyone else? Compassion starts with being true and honest with yourself, how you see yourself, how you speak to yourself, and how you treat yourself. When you can be honest and compassionate with yourself, you can be honest and compassionate to others. So, start within and ask yourself if you are kind, gentle and compassionate with yourself. Are you? Or are you harsh, critical, always analyzing or self-loathing towards yourself? If so, please take the time to reflect, address the wounds and pain that linger, ask for help if needed and heal. Truly heal. One step at a time. Give yourself some grace, some time and some compassion. It’s truly worth it!
